UGH. My downstairs neighbours have been blasting out Sandi Thom – I wish I was a punk rocker. There aren’t eve words to describe how much I hate this song. It offends my ears. It doesn’t even make sense: “I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair” WTF? When did punk rockers wear flowers in their hair?? Wow I can just imagine New York Dolls or the Sex Pistols rocking daisy chains on their barnets.

If you tell me to jump then I’ll die
In my dreams I’m there
I always hoped that I’d learn how to fly
In my dreams I’m there
You can tie my hands to the walls
But you can’t tie my dreams to this place
I might fall like a rock from your heart
But you won’t see me fall from grace
Fate always loses hope
Like electric sparks in my heart
Fate always loses hope
Now be a good girl and do what you’re told
If you tell me to jump then I’ll die
In my dreams I’m there
I always hoped that I’d learn how to fly
In my dreams I’m there
I leave my memoirs in blood on the floor
And my fears with the nurse on the stairs
I’m only going where you’ll be some day
So don’t say rest in peace in your prayers
Fate always loses hope
Like electric sparks in my heart
Fate always loses hope
Now be a good girl and do what you’re told
I hope you, remember me
I hope you, never pretend for me
I hope you, remember me
I hope you
Fate always loses hope
Like electric sparks in my heart
Fate always loses hope
Now be a good girl and do what you’re told
I hope you, remember me
I hope you, never pretend for me
I hope you, remember me
I hope you, never forget about me
I hope you, remember me
I hope you, never pretend for me
I hope you, remember me
I hope you
The music from episode of Gossip Girl – “In the Realm of the Basses”
Happy Birthday to……
Sarah Michelle Gellar!
Yes. Buffy herself turns 32 today! I grew up with SMG playing Ms Summers and IMO it’s definitely one of the best shows ever. ( Even if only for introducing to the world David Boreanaz and James Marsters )
(THERE IS, OF COURSE THE AWESOME SPIKE/ANGEL PAIRING. FOR ALL THINGS SLASH I SUGGEST YOU VIST HERE, HERE OR HERE! )
Buffy Sarah had a pretty succesful post-Buffy career in the films starring in: ‘ I know what you did last summer’ , ‘Scooby Doo 1 & 2′, ‘The Grudge’ , ‘Simply Irrestible’ , ‘Scream 2′ and others. I think it’s fair to say though, that her most memorable film role will always be as Kathryn Mertuil in ‘Cruel Intentions’ and that kiss with Selma Blair….
Buffy Sarah hasn’t been making any big movies recently. She married fellow actor Freddie Prinze Jr in 2002 and if rumours are to be believed the couple are now expecting their first child.
Yeah Baby! Come August bank holiday My sister Melissa and myself will once again be having the time of our lives at Reading Festival! This year we will be joined by SOB and my brother Alex. As the song says, ” Things can only get better messier! Cant. Fuckin’. Wait. When the line up was unveiled last week think there was a lot of jizzing in pants. ( And that was just us girls )
Cast: Seth Rogen (Dale Denton) James Franco (Saul Silva) Danny McBride (Red) Kevin Corrigan (Bludofsky) Craig Robinson (Matheson) Gary Cole (Ted Jones) Rosie Perez (Carol – female cop )
Lazy court-process clerk and stoner Dale Denton has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver: to purchase weed, specifically, a rare new strain called Pineapple Express. But when Dale becomes the only witness to a murder by a crooked cop and the city’s most dangerous drug lord, he panics and dumps his roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Dale now has another reason to visit Saul: to find out if the weed is so rare that it can be traced back to him–and it is. As Dale and Saul run for their lives, they quickly discover that they’re not suffering from weed-fueled paranoia: incredibly, the bad guys really are hot on their trail and trying to figure out the fastest way to kill them both. All aboard the Pineapple Express.
Saul: It’s almost a shame to smoke it. It’s like killing a unicorn… with, like, a bomb.
One thing we need to get outta the way. James Franco : You So Would….
It’s Franco’s performance that makes a lot of the movie for me. His low level weed dealer Saul could easily have come across as a complete douche. Instead, it’s hard not to fall in love with Saul. He bundles along with a mixture of high intelligence and sweet naivety. Seth Rogen also puts in a gem of a performance. True, his character is not a stretch from those he’s played before – especially ‘Knocked Up’s Ben. The two form such a great duo you find yourself rooting for them with passion.
The film mixes some hilarious dialogue and truly laugh-out-loud set pieces – the fight at Red’s house and cop car chase being two of the highlights – with some real action shoot out and by the end is looking like something Michael Bay could have produced. You almost think you’re watching a serious action film then something will happen such as a slow-mo Dale walking from a building carrying Saul. In his pants.
The film has been described as a ‘Stoner Comedy’ but don’t let that put you none-smokers off. In short the film is funny as fuck. That’s high praise coming from a cynical sod like me. Now, I just need to get my hands on some of that Pineapple Express and I might be able to sit through anything….
But I’m all good, and proof that a few months away from the internet will not cause one to wither and die. It will, however, free up time to work on an already impressive alcohol and partying habit. Hey, what can I say….
So I know you’re all just dying to here what’s been happening. Here’s a few updates:
‘White Lies’ still the best band around.
Yes, I know I may go on about this band a lot but seriously – I’m going to convert everyone. The boys scored a #1 album in the UK with ‘To Lose My Life’ and rightly so – its genius. There’s nay a filler on here. The band are fantastic live and they’re about to get bigger…..
Yeah yeah. I know I’m 5 years late but I finally got round to watching Prison Break. I luff it ! have managed to catch the first 3 seasons ( so no spoilers after that please. Now I can kinda see what people see in Wentworth. He’d still not make my top 10 but hell yeah! Also watching PB has reignited one of my more – unusual – crushes. This guy:
I think it got started by the film ‘Go’ – specifically this scene:
It’s Nearly Summer!!
Well. That’s if we get one this year. Our last two have been none existent. Yes I am one of those people who shows great excitement at the slightest bit of sun. Summer though. What’s not to love??! Cold beer in the pub garden, going to the beach, fit men in shorts, evening BBQ’s with friends, fit men in shorts…
In a host of consecutive bestsellers, Jonathan Kellerman has kept readers spellbound with the intense, psychologically acute adventures of Dr. Alex Delaware-and with excursions through the raw underside of L.A. and the coldest alleys of the criminal mind.Rage offers a powerful new case in point, as Delaware and LAPD homicide detective Milo Sturgis revisit a horrifying crime from the past that has taken on shocking and deadly new dimensions.
Troy Turner and Rand Duchay were barely teenagers when they kidnapped and murdered a younger child. Troy, a remorseless sociopath, died violently behind bars. But the hulking, slow-witted Rand managed to survive his stretch. Now, at age twenty-one, he’s emerged a haunted, rootless young man with a pressing need: to talk-once again-with psychologist Alex Delaware. But the young killer comes to a brutal end, that conversation never takes place.
Has karma caught up with Rand? Or has someone waited for eight patient years to dine on ice-cold revenge? Both seem strong possibilities to Sturgis, but Delaware’s suspicions run deeper . . . and darker. Because fear in the voice of the grownup Rand Duchay-and his eerie final words to Alex: “I’m not a bad person”-betray untold secrets. Buried revelations so horrendous, and so damning, they’re worth killing for.
As Delaware and Sturgis retrace their steps through a grisly murder case that devastated a community, they discover a chilling legacy of madness, suicide, and multiple killings left in its wake-and even uglier truths waiting to be unearthed. And the nearer they come to understanding an unspeakable crime, the more harrowingly close they get to unmasking a monster hiding in plain sight.
Rage finds Jonathan Kellerman in phenomenal form-orchestrating a relentlessly suspenseful, devilishly unpredictable plot to a finale as stunning and thought-provoking as it is satisfying.
I have been reading Jonathan Kellerman for a long time and I’m a huge fan of his books. This however was the first time I’d picked one up in about 2 years. Now without being too cliched and corny it was so comfortable to slip back into it was like I’d never been away! Now when I say comfortable I don’t necessarily mean an easy ride. The book opens with a horrific murder which unfortunately has parallels with a horrendous incident that happened in England about 15 years ago, it was very emotional to read. It has you hooked though and you just know from reading the first chapter you need to follow through with the book. Alex Delaware is, IMO, one of the best characters created. ( Film casting people if you’re reading this….Patrick Wilson!!! )The writing and descriptions in the book are fantastic and the twists genuinely surprising.
Cast: Jack Black ( Jerry Gerber ) Mos Def ( Mike ) Danny Glover ( Elroy Fletcher ) Mia Farrow ( Miss Falewicz ) Melonie Diaz ( Alma )
Jerry is a junkyard worker who attempts to sabotage a power plant he suspects of causing his headaches. But he inadvertently causes his brain to become magnetized, leading to the unintentional destruction of all the movies in his friend’s store. In order to keep the store’s one loyal customer, an elderly lady with a tenuous grasp on reality, the pair re-create a long line of films including The Lion King, Rush Hour, Ghostbusters, When We Were Kings, Driving Miss Daisy, and Robocop, putting themselves and their townspeople into it. They become the biggest stars in their neighborhood.
This is by far former music video director Michel Gondry’s most commercial film to date, although it still has his brand of uniqueness stamped all over it. The idea behind the film is highly original, and for the most part pulled off well. There are some brilliant moments of comedy – the scene in which Mike and Jerry are filming ‘Ghostbusters’ in a library is pure EL OH EL genius! There are some lovely little moments and the main cast all do very well – Melonie Diaz is a stand out as feisty Alma. There is a slightly disjointed sense to the film though – some things don’t sit right and it’s hard to put a finger on why but it slightly mars the overall enjoyment of the film. The ending is very saccharine too but you’ll still find yourself smiling along.
All in all, a nice little film but you feel those involved could have pushed things a bit further.
So iTunes has this ‘Genius’ application now. if you don’t know what I mean, basically you click on one of your songs and it chooses another 24 songs from your library that are similar to make a playlist. So I thought I’d check it out. The song I chose was
Well I’m pretty impressed with that ! Apart from maybe James Blunt and Mika ( No Idea how they got into my iTunes – honestly *ahem ) it’s a pretty good playlist!
